School is not teaching you a lot of the important aspects of real life. Most skills not learned are directed from the workforce.

The elementary and secondary school system need to teach basic skills that most people should know.

Some good examples of everyday skills that need to be learned but school almost never teaches are filing taxes, installing home appliances, and even fixing clothing

There are so many ways that education could fix it but instead, they have not focused on the correct aspects, even when there

are many other classes that would benefit them more. The main reason these classes are not being offered is a lack of interest

and not enough resources being put towards programs and more classes that help in learning and using skills that can help

people live their lives in a better state.

According to a statistic made by Skills Canada it has revealed that 1 in three Canadians were unsure on how to install a light fixture. Almost 1 in 2 Canadians did not could not install a faucet or replace a zipper on items of clothing.

In a separate study, it showed that over 1.8 million adults do not know how to file their taxes and tax returns,

which resulted in the adults losing a profit of around $1.7 billion in 2015 alone. A lot of people do need to learn the basic and everyday skills, but there is no time for it.

A good proposal for this is switching up the education that the people learn. A good suggestion would be as an example of

classes that Bedford Road offers, making certain classes like Life Transitions 30, which teaches you about how to transition from school to going into the workforce or Financial Literacy 20 and 30 which teaches you about budgeting, taxation and how to save and do well with money

Most schools besides trade schools do not offer classes that can teach you

how to do stuff like changing a tire, or putting in a light fixture.

In the opinion of CTV news, the Toronto Star, and Skills Canada, the skills people should know are not available in

schools or not given enough information in the school curriculum.
